Managing the Lifecycle of your Electronics
Discarded computers, mobile phones, and other electronics now comprise the fastest-growing stream of toxic waste on earth. To address this critical issue, and your cyber-security and compliance concerns, Safari Micro partners with a leading e-Safari® Recycler, to help you responsibly dispose of electronic equipment you no longer need. For equipment that still has value, we will maximize that thanks to our in-depth understanding of every major market in electronics recycling.
Residual Value Management
Safari Micro helps our clients maximize the residual value of their obsolete electronic equipment through proactive asset management. We begin by assessing your asset portfolio, noting current market value and creating a forecast of residual value. This provides you with the information you need to decide on cost-optimized refreshes and/or upgrades. As market conditions change, we notify you of impacts to your portfolio valuation, and recommend actions to maximize your ROI.
The core of our Residual Value Management services is our remarketing expertise. Because of the large volumes of equipment that we receive from large corporations and institutions, we are market makers in many segments of the secondary electronics markets. Our remarketing team consistently maximizes equipment value by selling refurbished equipment directly to end users such as businesses, schools, and consumers, as well as to maintenance companies, resellers, and wholesalers.
Data Erasure and Destruction
To ensure the security of your data, Safari Micro offers onsite and offsite data erasure and destruction services.
This mitigates your liabilities associated with such data privacy and disposal legislation as:
- Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA)
- Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH)
- Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA)
- Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
- State Data Privacy Laws (currently in 46 states, DC, PR and the Virgin Islands)
- State Data Disposal Laws (currently in 29 states)
We perform our data erasure services in our proprietary asset management system utilizing Blancco software, which documents an erasure report for each device indexed by its serial number. This method provides documented proof of erasure, typically by degaussing and shredding, for each storage device, ensuring audit compliance.
e-Stewards Recyclers maintain the highest global standard for the responsible recycling and refurbishment of electronics, the e-Stewards Standard for Responsible Recycling and Reuse of Electronic Equipment. This is an industry-specific standard, and is the basis for e-Stewards Certification. Experts in the recycling and asset recovery industries, the environmental community, occupational health and safety professionals, and the certification and accreditation industries all contributed to its development.
The e-Stewards specifically developed this standard for international use, so it is consistent with international waste trade rules, social accountability standards, and environmental management system norms. Embedded within the e-Stewards Standard is ISO 14001, the global standard for environmental management systems. The e-Stewards Standard supplements the ISO 14001 standard with the industry-specific performance requirements, which results in a systemic, documented, and top management commitment to best management practices for electronics recycling and reuse. Adhering to certification requirements, all e-Steward electronics recyclers dispose of or recycle electronic waste in compliance with e-waste legislation–no exportation, no landfills, and no incineration.
